In an emblematic battlefield beyond time and space, amidst the ruins of a temple built to honor Lady Death, the space hero known as the Human Rocket hovers above a rubble of rocks with jagged stones and sculpted skulls. Wearing his altered and enhanced dark, blue, and gold Centurion Prime uniform, with clenched fists energized by the strength of a unique sentient mind artificially created from a living supercomputer, he joins a pantheon of great heroes to confront the titan Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet. Nova debuted in The Man Called Nova #1, written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by John Buscema in 1976. Wolfman intended the young character to be a tribute to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s Spider-Man, following his humble working-class roots and alter ego.
